Iowa man arrested on multiple drug charges after search of home

Whether you have a criminal history or not, being accused of a drug crime is a serious situation. Depending on the type of drug and the quantity the defendant was allegedly in possession of, this could result in harsh penalties with long-term consequences. In some cases, an individual could face multiple counts in a single arrest, making it a very serious and complex matter. This is what recently occurred to an Iowa man.

According to recent reports, a 54-year-old man from Ashton was arrested for several felony drug charges. This occurred after a search warrant was executed on his place of residence. According to authorities, this search resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, LSD and drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, authorities allegedly found evidence of a marijuana growing operation as well as a butane honey oil lab. These were apparently located in one of the outbuildings. At the end of the executed search, the man was charged with possession with intent to distribute more than 5-grams of methamphetamine, possession of LSD, possession of cocaine, manufacturing marijuana, an aggravated misdemeanor, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

While the defendant is facing numerous charges stemming from the search of his residence, this does not mean that all of these charges will remain. By initiating a criminal defense, he could scrutinize the steps taken during the search and seizure process. If an unlawful search and seizure occurred, it may be possible to suppress the evidence. This could help him reduce or even dismiss some or all of the charges against him.

Facing drug crimes can be a difficult and overwhelming time for a defendant. However, it is important to gain a full understanding of the drug charges filed against you, the evidence collected in the case and what criminal defense options are available.
