What are the penalties for a misdemeanor versus a felony in Iowa?
Misdemeanors and felonies carry different penalties under Iowa law, with felonies involving more severe consequences such as longer sentences and greater fines. The classification depends on the nature of the alleged offense and prior history.
Should I answer police questions without a defense attorney present?
You have the right to remain silent and to request legal counsel before answering any questions. Invoking your rights helps protect your interests during an investigation or questioning.
