Nathan Peterson is a criminal defense attorney who represents individuals facing charges in state and federal courts. His practice is focused on defending people accused of all manner of crimes, from simple misdemeanor offenses to serious felony charges.

Nathan was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007 to 2015 and continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve. After completing his active-duty service, Nathan returned to Iowa and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Iowa in 2016 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2020.

Following law school, Nathan served as a law clerk to a federal district judge. During that time, he gained extensive firsthand experience with criminal litigation and observed some of the state's most experienced trial attorneys in hundreds of sentencings, revocations of supervised release, suppression hearings, and bench trials, as well as more than a dozen federal jury trials. That experience gave Nathan a unique perspective from inside the courtroom, giving him unique and valuable exposure to the inner workings of how criminal cases are litigated and decided.

Nathan's experience also includes time as a federal prosecutor, tackling cases involving firearms and drug offenses, as well as in civil litigation involving personal injury cases. Having worked on both sides of criminal cases, Nathan understands the strategies used by prosecutors and the issues that can determine the outcome of a criminal prosecution. He brings that experience to the defense of his clients, carefully examining the evidence, challenging the government's case, and advocating for his clients at every stage of the proceedings.
